What is The Green Table Club ?

The Green Table Club is Malaysia’s first sustainability-focused dining club, created to bring people together around delicious, low–carbon meals and meaningful conversations. We host monthly events — from plant-forward breakfasts and afternoon teas to themed dinners — all designed to showcase dishes with significantly lower CO₂ emissions and a lighter environmental footprint.

Beyond the plate, we also integrate social and environmental responsibility wherever possible:

  • supporting local communities and small producers,

  • reducing food waste through smart menu design,

  • highlighting ethical and planet-friendly ingredients,

  • and celebrating chefs who champion sustainability.

Our mission is simple: to make sustainable dining accessible, exciting, and culturally relevant in Malaysia — one delicious event at a time.

The Green Table Club

Food systems are responsible for around 34% of global greenhouse gas emissions (Crippa et al., Nature Food, 2021) — and what's on the plate is one of the most direct ways to reduce that.

Our Baked Vegetable Mushroom Wellington, served at the Christmas Brunch at KLCC, makes the point simply: beef generates approximately 60 kg CO₂ per kg produced, while mushrooms produce just 0.08 kg per serving (Poore & Nemecek, Science, 2018). Same dish. Worlds apart in impact.

At the Veganuary Conscious Afternoon Tea at Grand Hyatt KL, the kitchen took it further — pineapple skins into kombucha, carrot peels into shepherd's pie, cucumber trimmings into pickles. Zero waste, on a five-star plate.

This is what conscious menu engineering looks like. Delicious, measurable, and aligned with UN Sustainable Development Goals:
